Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide with the chemical sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro. It is an optimized analog of the natural immunomodulatory peptide Tuftsin, developed by the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is approved as a pharmaceutical in Russia (nasal spray), while in other regions it is primarily used as a research peptide or compounding preparation. Selank is neuroactive and possesses dual anxiolytic and nootropic properties. It does not belong to the benzodiazepine class and does not cause significant sedation, dependence, or cognitive impairment. This content is intended for research and reference purposes only and should not be construed as medical advice.
Anxiolytic and anti-stress: rapid relief of anxiety, tension, and stress responses; stabilizes mood, comparable to low-dose benzodiazepines but without notable side effects. Cognitive enhancement: improves attention, memory, learning capacity, and mental clarity. Antidepressant and mood-regulating effects: alleviates depressive symptoms and anhedonia, increases BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) expression, and promotes neuroplasticity. Immunomodulation: may enhance immune function and support immune suppression caused by viral infection or stress. Other: adjunctive support for withdrawal symptoms (alcohol/opioids), improved sleep quality, and neuroprotective effects.
Common routes of administration: nasal spray (most common and convenient), subcutaneous injection (SC). Reference dosage (for reference only; follow medical advice): Nasal spray: 200–300 μg per administration, 1–3 times daily. Injection: 250–500 μg per administration, 1–2 times daily. Course: typically 10–14 days per cycle, may be repeated as needed. Reconstitution (injectable form): reconstitute the lyophilized powder with bacteriostatic water, swirl gently to mix, and avoid shaking. Onset is relatively rapid; anxiolytic effects are typically felt within hours to a few days.
