GHRP-6 is a synthetic hexapeptide and one of the first growth hormone secretagogues that acts as a potent agonist of the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a), stimulating robust, dose-dependent GH release from the anterior pituitary. It is distinguished by its exceptionally strong appetite-stimulating effects via ghrelin-mimetic activity, along with more pronounced elevations in cortisol and prolactin compared to selective alternatives like Ipamorelin. Research demonstrates its cardioprotective and cytoprotective properties independent of GH, enhanced wound healing, tissue repair, and sustained efficacy with minimal tachyphylaxis. While highly effective for GH stimulation, appetite induction in catabolic states, and synergistic use with GHRH analogs such as CJC-1295, common side effects include intense hunger, transient sweating, chills, light-headedness, and mild water retention.
