Adipotide (also known as FTPP) is an experimental synthetic peptide designed to selectively target and destroy blood vessels that supply white adipose (fat) tissue. It binds to prohibitin on the surface of fat tissue vasculature, causing apoptosis of these blood vessels, which leads to fat cell death and rapid reduction in body fat. It demonstrated significant fat loss in animal studies, but it has never been approved for human use due to safety issues, particularly potential kidney toxicity.
Promotes adipocyte apoptosis; reduces localized and systemic fat; improves body fat distribution; may increase metabolic rate; supports weight loss
Typically administered subcutaneously, dosage adjusted on an individual basis (common starting dose 1–2 mg per day); treatment cycles recommended not to exceed 4 weeks; adequate water intake required
Individuals seeking to reduce stubborn fat; those with localized fat accumulation; individuals above target weight without a history of severe renal disease
